Blood Glucose Test
Welcome to our guide on your blood glucose test results. This test is also sometimes called a blood sugar test. Your doctor may have ordered the blood glucose test or you checked your blood sugar with a home blood glucose monitor.
Your blood sugar level may stay in a relatively tight range, or it may fluctuate considerably during the day. A single blood glucose test result depends on several factors, such as whether you:
- Were fasting when the test was done or had something to eat or drink recently
- Have diabetes
- Take medication that lowers blood sugar levels
- Have pre-diabetes (also referred to as insulin resistance)
To help you understand what your blood glucose test result means, we need to start with the actual test result.
